Norbert Bödör bossed around the police that cooperated with mafia and blackmailed businessmen

Police apprehended ex-Police Chief Tibor Gašpar and former elite policemen Peter Hraško, Róbert Krajmer and Bernard Slobodník. Recently, it also put Dušan Kováčik, former head of special prosecutors, Ľudovít Makó, former head of the tax authority FS’s Criminal Unit, and oligarch Norbert Bödör, Gašpar’s relative, behind bars. The police allege they met regularly in 2012-18 under Bödör’s leadership and rigged the investigations of various cases, blackmailed businessmen and split up bribes and ransom, cooperated with mafia, leaked information, and even covered up plans for the murder of a police officer. Bödör, say the police, acted in Smer’s favor. Makó and Slobodník are cooperating with the police. Gašpar is represented by lawyer Marek Para, who also represents Marian Kočner and tried to discredit prosecutor Vasiľ Špirko. Fico says the charges are political and baseless, OĽaNO applauds the results of untying the police’s hands, and SaS turns attention to the crooks’ backers, Robert Fico and Robert Kaliňák. Since the election, the police have arrested 30 influential public officials, judges, lawyers and oligarchs.
