New pandemic assistance scheme on the horizon
Economy Minister Richard Sulík proposed a new pandemic assistance scheme for all companies reporting an accounting loss last year. The subsidy would compensate for the loss. Finance Minister Eduard Heger (OĽaNO) also wants to adopt a new assistance scheme covering companies’ fixed costs. He wants to make sure companies already in trouble before the pandemic are not subsidized. Companies, in turn, point out that profitable companies may also be in trouble and accounting losses do not reflect the scope of the problems the pandemic has created.
