The tax authority FS presented measures to combat tax evasion. It wants to encourage people to ask retailers for receipts. Those who collect receipts of a certain value could receive a one-percentage-point reduction in their income tax rate. Following the introduction of the financial transaction tax, cash payments became more popular, and tax intake in the construction sector fell by €80m annually this year, and in accommodation services by €40m. Another measure could be a reduction in tax deductions for luxury items; cars are already subject to this. An obligation to keep electronic accounting backups could also be introduced. QR payments will be launched in January, and from April retailers will be required to accept cashless payments. The government is also considering a minimum tax for self-employed persons (possibly €1,000 a year), criminal liability of individuals for corporate debts, proving the reason for an increase in assets and their additional taxation, and further limits on cash payments.
