New banking tax could be annulled

Slovakia has breached EU rules by not consulting the European Central Bank (ECB) on the introduction of a new banking tax, the ECB noted. The tax of 30% of banks' gross profits, which is to yield €426m a year, could thus be annulled if banks or European institutions sue Slovakia.
