MTBiker takes over the activities of bike maker Dema

Online bicycle store MTBiker (Tomáš Červenka) takes over the activities of bike maker Dema Senica (Ján Kubíček and Milan Bella). After the collapse of Kaktus Bike, this is another victim of the post-pandemic slump in sporting goods sales. MTBiker takes over the Dema brand, stock and distribution rights of several well-known cycling brands. Dema posted a 13% drop in sales last year to €16m, losing €0.6m. Last year, Eterus Capital, a private equity fund managed by Wood & Co, acquired a minority stake in MTBiker to kick-start its expansion. It recently opened a fifth store in Banská Bystrica and plans another in Košice. It is also expanding in Czechia, Poland and Hungary. Last year, breaking even, it increased sales by 23% to €14.3m and expects growth of 30% this year.
