Mortgages still getting cheaper

The average interest rate on new mortgages fell to 0.87% in September, a new record. The average interest rate on all existing housing loans also fell to a new low of 1.12%, NBS reported. Prima banka (Penta), with its on-off offer of a 0.4% rate, is the key driver of falling rates. The bank increased its market share from 8.8% to 9.9% in the past 12 months. Its portfolio of housing loans increased by €508m in January-September, followed by VÚB (€479m) and SLSP (€399m).
