Mortgage rates are record-low and their sale record-high

Interest rates on new mortgages sold in May (0.93%) remained close to an all-time low of 0.92%, reported NBS. The average for all mortgages fell to an all-time low of 1.18%. The most aggressive bank on the market, Prima banka, offers just a 0.5% refinancing rate. Over the past eight months, the bank increased its market share by 0.8 of a point to 9.68%. It is getting closer to the largest banks SLSP (25.1% share of all housing loans), VÚB (22.1%), Tatra banka (13.9%) and ČSOB (12.3%). A year ago, SLSP controlled 26.3% of the market. (finsider.sk)
The total volume of housing loans stood at €34.6bn in May, up 10% annually. Banks sold new mortgages worth €1.35bn in May, the biggest monthly total in five years.
