Medusa as well as McDonald's had a very good year in Slovakia in 2023

Restaurant group Medusa (Peter Štecko) enjoyed a 25% growth in consolidated sales to €54.5m last year and its EBITDA profit rose 49% to €8.4m. It opened three new restaurants last year, two in Dubai and one in Bratislava. The results were driven by an 11% increase in footfall at existing restaurants and a change in consumer behavior towards more expensive food. The canteen segment benefited from the economic recovery. The group has 40 facilities in Slovakia, Czechia, Austria, and the United Arab Emirates (brands such as Primi, Klubovňa, Kubu, Barrock, Presto, and wagamama). It employs 1,100. (sme.sk)

A number of Slovak hotels and restaurants, as well as McDonald's showed very good results. Reston, which operates seven McDonald's restaurants, doubled its net profit to €2m last year on 35% sales growth to €30m. Firstin, with four McDonald's outlets, quadrupled its profit to €0.6m last year and grew sales by 25% to €19.5m.
