Locals protest €150m investment by Mondi SCP

Residents of Ružomberok are protesting a €150m investment by local paper mill Mondi SCP in new technologies, including a new boiler. The boiler is to burn waste from paper production and sludge from the wastewater treatment plant and will have 60% higher capacity than the current facility from 1981. The company says there will be no increase in air pollution; still, it is among the biggest air polluters in the country. It wants to complete the investment within three years.
