Ikea expanded its Malacky plant
Ikea's production plants in Trnava, Malacky, and Závažná Poruba reported losses of €12m in 2018-21. In the financial year ending August 2023, they posted a net profit of €2.4m, and sales jumped to €308m. Yesterday, Ikea opened a new furniture hall in Malacky, creating 130 jobs. It will produce particleboard bookcases, whereas until now it has mainly produced particleboards there. One of the most automated plants of the concern now employs 560 people. All three plants employ 1,500.
Last year, the Ikea Bratislava store reported a net profit of €11m. Ikea Components' logistics center in Malacky had €645m sales, a net profit of €9m, and 700 employees last year.
