Housing construction is still subdued

Housing construction is still subdued due to expensive mortgages that dampened demand. In the third quarter, 4,232 apartments were completed in Slovakia, down 22% annually, but up 6% compared to the 2015-19 average. 4,168 apartments received building permits, down 15% annually. As of the end of September, 79,000 apartments were under construction, 2.9% fewer annually but 7% more than before the pandemic.
