The government will not spend all the EU funds for IT projects, warns the local IT association ITAS. The government has €670m available in 2014-20, of which just €130m has been spent and the rest must be spent by the end of 2023. ITAS warns as many as 13 of 35 large IT projects on the table won’t be implemented. The government conditions large IT projects on building its own IT capacities at ministries, but Slovakia faces a shortage of IT professionals. To prevent corruption, projects are subject to numerous controls that slow them down. ITAS called on the government to implement crisis management of the IT projects.
