Government to simplify employment of non-EU workers

The government will send legislation to parliament this month to simplify the employment of non-EU workers, PM Robert Fico said. Companies have long complained of labor shortages and it takes 12-18 months to hire non-EU workers. The government wants to shorten that time. Other EU countries have a much simpler process for granting work permits and recognizing education. Regulated legal migration is even supported by labor unions, but only if it does not put downward pressure on wages.
