Fitch affirmed Slovakia's A- rating
Ratings agency Fitch affirmed Slovakia's A- rating with a stable outlook. Rival agency S&P confirmed an A+ rating six weeks ago, and Moody's, the third of the major agencies, will rate Slovakia on December 13, currently rating the country at A2. Both Fitch and S&P deem the government's fiscal plans to be credible. GDP growth remains solid, but the economy will be hampered by a strong dependence on the automotive industry, an ageing population and a large share of fossil fuels from Russia in total energy consumption.
