Finance Minister Igor Matovič proposed the elimination of flat-rate expenses for sole traders

Finance Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) proposed the elimination of flat-rate expenses for sole traders. Under his new system, sole traders would either pay a tax of 29% of revenues and would not keep any accounting, or they would book real expenses and pay a 29% levy and 19% income tax. Compared to a full-time employee, sole traders’ taxes will be ten points lower. Matovič proposes a 10% VAT rate for restaurants, reducing state revenue by €40m annually. In return, restaurants would have to offer a children’s menu for half price, half portions for 75% of the price, free water, and give all tips to employees. He also wants to give a €300 meal bonus to vaccinated seniors.
