Expensive new bus station within the Nivy center
Developer HB Reavis (Ivan Chrenko), namely its bus carrier Slovak Lines, charges €8.30 per bus entry in its new bus station within the Nivy center. Elsewhere in Slovakia, the fees range from €0.20 in Podbrezová to €6 in Bardejov; in the old Bratislava station, it was €1.50. Bus transport is subsidized by regions VÚCs and the rise in fee will increase the Bratislava VÚC’s costs by €2m annually (its total bus transport subsidy comes to €20m annually). Slovak Lines argues the new station provides greater comfort. Due to high prices, bus carrier Arriva, which is taking over regional bus transport from Slovak Lines from November 15, will not use the station’s facilities. It will park its buses and do maintenance elsewhere.
