EU warns of trade wars having no winners

US President Donald Trump imposed 25% tariffs on the import of goods from Canada and Mexico, seeking to reduce fentanyl imports, the influx of migrants and the trade deficit. He also increased tariffs on Chinese products by 10%. He confirmed that he plans to impose tariffs on the EU, which he says has "not treated the US well". He did not specify a timetable or the tariff levels. (stvr.sk) Canada immediately responded by imposing a 25% tariff on CAD155bn worth of imports from the US. Mexico is also planning retaliatory tariff and non-tariff measures. There are no winners in trade wars and we will take the necessary countermeasures, China warned. (forbes.sk) The EU also warned that it will react strongly if the US imposes tariffs on imports from the union. It criticized the US imposing tariffs on its main trading partners, describing the move as "damaging for all parties."
