Electricity generation from renewables overtook that from fossil fuels

In 2020, electricity generation from renewables overtook that from fossil fuels for the first time, Eurostat reported. Their share of total electricity generation rose to 38%, compared to 37% for fossil fuels. The latter fell to an all-time low and was 35% lower compared to its peak in 2007. Nuclear power (25%) fell to the lowest level since 1990.
