New car sales in the EU stagnated at 7.2m units in January–August, according to ACEA. Electric vehicle sales jumped 25%, making up 15.8% of total sales. In Slovakia, overall car sales declined 1% to 60,266 units, while EV sales surged 69% to 2,645. The growth reflects a broader selection of affordable EV models, despite the lack of government subsidies. Chinese brands still account for less than 10% of European sales, but their market share is rising.
