Duslo suspended production and may not resume it

Fertilizer producer Duslo Šaľa (Andrej Babiš) shut down production for six weeks for regular maintenance a week ago. It is possible that production will not resume this year amid high natural gas prices. "We are not ordering electricity or gas at the moment. We will only think about restarting production when the prices fall," said the plant’s CEO Petr Bláha. Other fertilizer plants in the EU are also reducing production.

Duslo accounts for 12% of Slovak gas consumption; if it does not resume production, Slovakia will have no problem meeting the EU's goal of reducing gas consumption by 15%. Likewise, electricity consumption will drop after Slovalco shuts down.
