Defence Ministry is launching tender for 25,000 assault rifles
The Defence Ministry is launching a tender for 25,000 assault rifles worth tens of millions. The Colt CZ group, which consists of Czech Česká zbrojovka and US firm Colt, is the favorite. The Ministry has approached other manufacturers, including Grand Power (Jaroslav Kuracina), Beretta (Italy), Heckler & Koch (Germany), FN Herstal (Belgium) and Glock (Austria). The tender is divided into two parts; the US will fund 5,000 rifles that must be US made. The remaining 20,000 rifles will be financed by Slovakia.
