Cities are increasing tax rates
Bratislava is increasing the property tax by 35% and waste collection fees by 30%, Mayor Matúš Vallo said. The hikes come in response to a drop in personal income tax revenue. The city's property tax was last increased in 2020 and the waste fee has not been changed for nine years. (hnonline.sk)
Property taxes will be increased by all regional capitals except Trnava and Banská Bystrica, which have already increased them, their mayors said. They are complaining of revenue shortfalls caused by the former cabinet; the so-called family package cut personal income taxes and therefore municipalities’ revenues. They also have to cover rising energy prices and wages. They intend to raise taxes by at least the inflation rate of the last four years, 27%.
