Chip shortages cut car sales

Passenger car registrations in Europe were up 11% annually eight months into the year, but were down 19% in August, Acea data show. In July, the registrations were down 23% after four months of accelerated growth as the global chip shortage is limiting car production. In Slovakia, the registrations were up 7% annually in January-August to 49,257 vehicles but were down 3% in August.
