Chip crisis is having an influence on car makers’ market shares

The chip crisis is having an influence on car makers’ market shares in Slovakia. Czech Škoda has been forced to significantly cut production and its market share has fallen from the traditional 20-25% to 15%. On the other hand, Kia is much less impacted and it has doubled its market share to 13.5%, followed by its sister brand Hyundai with 12%.

Car sales in the EU are up 2% annually three quarters into the year. The VW group posted a drop in market share from 25% to 20%, while Hyundai/Kia upped its share from 7% to 11%.
