Building permit reform approved
Parliament passed laws on building and on zoning that fundamentally reform the issuance of building permits in order to speed up construction. ÚÚPV, a new building and zoning authority, will be set up to take over building permit powers from municipalities. Municipalities will retain control over construction through detailed zoning plans. The approval process will be electronic, simplified, and project designers will play an important role. The Environment Ministry will be involved in approving all building projects that may have an impact on the environment. Buildings erected without a permit will be forfeited to the state.
