Bratislava Volkswagen plant posted record sales in 2023
The Bratislava Volkswagen plant posted record sales of €11.8bn last year, €1.4bn higher than before the pandemic. Production rose by 60,000 cars annually to 329,000, no longer constrained by component shortages. Still, it was 49,000 short of 2019's record output. The plant mainly produces large SUVs (the VW Touareg, Audi Q7 and Q8, Porsche Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé), plus the VW Passat and Škoda Superb models. The plant's pre-tax profit rose 15% annually to €319m. Average pay for the 11,700 employees, excluding management, rose to €2,688. The plant invested €424m last year. Roughly 40% of output went to Europe, 25% to North America and 20% to China.
