Bory hospital, owned by Penta and insurer Dôvera, introduced fees for non-medical services in June 2025, starting with orthopedics. Patients are "voluntarily" charged €1,000 for "above-standard" perks such as air conditioning and filtration. The hospital insists payment is not required for admission. Similar fees will roll out in other departments soon to improve the hospital’s financial performance. Management had expected break-even by end-2024, but posted a €57m loss last year.
