Apartment price growth accelerates

The pace of apartment price growth in Slovakia accelerated during the summer, RÚ data showed. The average price in August was €3,212 per sqm, 5% higher than in June and 15% higher annually. Prices of older apartments rose faster than new ones. For 2-room units, the increase was 17% vs. 13%; for 3-room units, 17% vs. 14%. Rising prices reflected a slowdown in housing construction. RÚ expects prices to continue rising in the fall thanks to falling mortgage rates.
