Ageing population is a risk to economic growth

An ageing population is a risk to economic growth in Slovakia, a study by the German think-tank IZA shows. Among OECD countries, demography will reduce economic growth more only in South Korea, Portugal, and Spain. The falling number of people in work and the rising number of pensioners will reduce economic growth by more than a point a year in the period ahead. The Slovak population refuses to address the issue via immigration, and increasing the productivity of existing employees through innovation is questionable.
