A quarter of foodstuffs sold under the retailers’ private brands

A quarter of foodstuffs on the shelves of Slovak retailers is under the retailers’ private brands, up from 20% in 2015, a survey by PKS, a local food chamber, showed. Two thirds of the private brands are made abroad. Lidl has the biggest share of private brands (51%), followed by Kaufland (23%) and COOP Jednota (20%). Terno has the lowest share, only 4%. Milk has the highest share of private brands (60%) and beer, wine, and alcohol are on the other side of the spectrum.
