Slovakia sold €4bn bonds, its biggest bond issue to date

Slovakia sold €4bn bonds on Wednesday, the biggest bond issue in Slovakia’s history and in the CEE region. This will cover half of this year’s public finance deficit. The 5- and 8-year bonds were sold with interest rates of 0.35% and 1.1%, respectively. Investors’ demand topped €15bn. This year, Slovakia has already sold bonds totaling €6.85bn, plus short-term T-bills totaling 2.8bn.
