Uniqa acquired the Slovak, Czech, and Polish assets of French Axa for €1bn
Austrian insurer Uniqa acquired the Slovak, Czech, and Polish assets of French Axa for €1bn. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and should be completed by the end of this year. Vienna Insurance Group and Generali were also shortlisted in Axa’s tender. In Slovakia, Axa offers both life and non-life insurance policies and is active in the second pension pillar. In 2018, it underwrote €75m in premiums in Slovakia, while Uniqa had €138m in premiums. Axa DSS is the No.2 in the second pension pillar with a 27% market share.
