Another slide in corruption perception ranking
Slovakia ranks 59th of 180 countries in the latest corruption perception index compiled by Transparency International, down two places from 2018 and down five places compared to 2016 when the current government took office. Slovakia scored 50 points out of 100, one points less than in 2016. Denmark and New Zealand are the cleanest countries. Failed efforts of the outgoing government in tackling corruption are illustrated by Specialized Criminal Court rulings; the number of its corruption verdicts was down a third in 2016-19 compared to 2012-15.
