The Slovenská Ľupča plant of Evonik of Germany plans to invest tens of millions into technologies for the production of a new product, rhamnolipids, according to sources of the N daily. The plant makes amino acids for cattle fodder, which are falling in price. The 230-strong plant saw its sales fall from €52m to €35m in 2015-18. Rhamnolipids are used in the pharmaceutical sector and cosmetics, and the plant expects production of 14,000 tons annually once the investment is completed in 2022.
