Bratislava to increase real estate tax by 50%

Bratislava Mayor Matúš Vallo proposed a 50% hike in the real estate tax that would yield €12m more annually. City councilors will vote on the proposal. Vallo argues that a personal income tax will deprive the city of €12m in 2020 (personal income tax goes to the city) and the city also needs money for wage hikes. Other cities are increasing real estate taxes and various fees, too.
