Ukraine’s state-owned Naftogaz a victim of corrupt Slovak courts
Ukraine’s state-owned JSC Naftogaz Ukrainy asked Zuzana Čaputová, Slovakia’s president, to help halt what it said were illegal efforts to defraud it out of €21m. Seven years ago, the company lost an arbitration case. Then, in 2017, Slovak courts allowed the winner to recover the funds by seizing natural gas supplied to Naftogaz through Slovakia’s pipeline network.
