Mafioso Kočner paid bribes to Prosecutor General

The police unit investigating the murder of reporter Ján Kuciak is in possession of wiretapped conversations between Marian Kočner and former Prosecutor General (PG) Dobroslav Trnka, according to which Kočner was corrupting MPs in the election of the PG. On the tapes, Kočner treats Trnka as his subordinate, and points out that he bribed Trnka to get Jozef Majský out of custody and to shelve the Glance House case (Kočner stole a residential project in Bernolákovo with substantial assistance from Trnka). Trnka was elected by parliament in 2004, but did not get enough votes in 2011; the latter vote was mired in corruption allegations.

Trnka still serves as a prosecutor, and he denied the contents of the tapes. Kočner is in custody awaiting trial for forging €69m in bills of exchange.
