70 incomplete probes into tenders during the second Robert Fico government

Miroslav Hlivák, new head of the public procurement authority ÚVO, found over 70 incomplete probes into tenders during the second Robert Fico government (2012-16). By not concluding the probes, potential breaches of legislation went unpunished, and public institutions escaped fines. ÚVO ignored motions from complainants, or has not allocated cases to its bureaucrats. Some of the cases are subject to the statute of limitations, and ÚVO will try to complete the rest.

Hlivák would not speculate on the reasons for the unusual leniency, including whether corruption might be involved. Former ÚVO head Zita Táborská is not aware of any wrongdoing.
