€50m biodiesel plant

Local Holig Group, backed by businessman Alexander Pilhovič and scientist Gabriel Kiss, plans to build a €50m plant for the production of diesel bio-additives in the former pulp plant in Štúrovo. They plan to produce second generation biodiesel, using not edible plants but waste biomass. At full capacity, it would use 350,000 tons of straw annually. Businessmen Ján Sabol and Mário Hoffmann also plan to build similar plants. If all three plants were up and running, they would not have enough locally made straw.
