Local automotive supplier Matador, owned by the Rosina and Vozár families, sold a minority stake in its key division, which makes pressed and welded car body parts, to a Portuguese group, Sodecia. The value of the deal was not disclosed. The two companies are setting up a joint venture in which Sodecia will manage Matador’s plants in Vráble, Nitra, Liberec (CR) and Nizhny Novgorod (Russia). Matador hopes to gain access to new markets. Sodecia has 5,000 workers in 42 plants in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South and North America. Matador plans to use proceeds from the sale in the development of automated lines and tools, its own design center, and the production of car prototypes.
