Employment of non-EU foreigners will be simpler
MPs for the Smer party submitted a revision that will somewhat simplify the employment of non-EU foreigners in Slovakia. Starting on May 1, 2018, more flexible conditions for employing foreigners will apply to regions with unemployment below 5% (at the moment 33 of 79 Slovak regions). Such workers must not account for over 30% of a company’s workforce, and companies will have to provide adequate accommodation.
Almost 46,000 foreigners worked in Slovakia at the end of September, from both EU and non-EU countries, 40% more than a year ago. In the Czech Republic, there are almost 500,000 foreign workers, of whom around 100,000 are Slovak.
