Slowdown in real estate price growth

Residential real estate prices were 6.4% higher under an annual comparison in the third quarter, at €1,378 per sqm, reported the central bank NBS. The growth pace slowed for the second quarter in a row. Apartments are now just 1% below their previous market peak in 2008, while houses are still 12% less expensive. Prices in Bratislava even fell quarter-on-quarter. NBS expects further slowdown in the growth pace in coming quarters, due to growing supply of new apartments and restrictions on mortgage provision.
