Xella resumes production in Šaštín
Germany’s Xella (Ytong brand), the largest Slovak maker of autoclaved aerated concrete, plans to resume production at the plant in Šaštín-Stráže after ten years. An €8m investment will create 30 jobs. The decision comes in response to a shortage of building materials and the subsequent rise in prices. Production re-start is planned for July 2023.
Xella has a production plant in Zemianske Kostoľany. Last year, its Slovak sales rose 14% to €35.7m and net profit soared to a record €6.4m. Production increased by 7%. However, it expects the market to cool down in the second half of 2022.
