Whirlpool sold its Poprad plant to Turkish Arçelik (brand Beko)
US firm Whirlpool has completed the sale of its production plants in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including the one in Poprad, to Turkish Arçelik (brands Beko, Grundig, Indesit, and Ignis). The sale agreement was signed a year ago, and it stipulates Whirlpool keeping a 25% stake in the plants. The plant in Poprad employs 1,100 and will operate under the name Beko Slovakia. It will continue to produce washing machines under the Whirlpool brand for the European market, and its management will remain unchanged.
