U.S. Steel will not pay taxes in Košice

The land under U.S. Steel is in the village of Sokoľany and not the city of Košice, ruled the Supreme Court. The dispute over which municipality can collect real estate tax from the steel mill has been dragging on for 23 years. The steel mill will apparently welcome the outcome, since Sokoľany levies a much smaller real estate tax.
