Tatravagónka to buy SES Tlmače production plant

Tatravagónka, Europe’s largest freight wagon maker and controlled by Budamar, Alexej Beljajev and Michal Lazar, paid €16m to acquire a production plant of SES Tlmače. It will also take over 150 employees of the company, which has been in dire straits for some time (it lost €45m over the past decade) and has been shedding workers. It is owned by EP Industries (Daniel Křetínský) and following the sale of the production plant, it will keep 150 sales and maintenance staff. The new owner will make freight wagons in the plant and plans to add a further 550 employees. Besides its plant in Poprad, it has production facilities in Trebišov, Vrútky, Croatia, Poland, Germany and Serbia.
