Stellantis, Volkswagen and Hella face chip shortage issues

The Trnava Stellantis car plant is pausing production today “due to a serious parts shortage.” It remains to be seen when production will be resumed. The Bratislava Volkswagen plant paused the production of SUV models on April 27 and plans to resume it on May 7.

German car lights maker Hella has cut output in one of its three Slovak plants that employ 4,000 in total. The Kočovce plant employs 1,800 and shut down half of its production lines due to a chip shortage of its key customer, Daimler. It hopes to resume production in mid-May.
