Slovenské elektrárne has been technically bankrupt since Monday

Slovenské elektrárne has been technically bankrupt since Monday,“ said Economy Minister Richard Sulík. Russia’s Sberbank did not extend maturity of a €870m loan for the Mochovce completion and wants SE shareholders to back the loan by their ownership stakes. Sulík has therefore submitted legislation requiring the government’s prior approval for acquisition of a more than 5% stake in critical infrastructure companies, including SE. Sberbank declined to comment. EPH, which owns a 33% stake in SE, deems the information on bankruptcy “groundless and misleading,” as SE is meeting all its liabilities. SE denied Sberbank is making steps to get hold of its shares.
