Slovaks again preferred to leave their savings in bank current accounts last year, according to data of Across Private Investments. Last year, the volume of current account deposits rose €2.8bn, despite the accounts offering a pitiful yield of 0.18%. Another €490m flowed into mutual funds, of which three quarters went into funds with a higher risk profile. Their average pre-tax yield was 2.21%, just above last year's inflation of 1.9%. Savings in the second pension pillar had an average return of 2.29% (index and equity funds 3.7%).
