Slovak income and wealth inequality is among the lowest in the world

Slovak income and wealth inequality is among the lowest in the world. According to Eurostat data, the richest 20% of Slovaks earn only 3.3 times as much as the poorest quintile. The EU average is 5.2 and only Slovenia (3.2), Czechia and Belgium (3.5) have comparatively small differences. According to World Bank data, Slovakia has the lowest wealth inequality in the world, with a Gini coefficient of only 0.23. Czechia (0.24), Belgium (0.25) and Slovenia (0.27) come close. The Scandinavian countries have values of 0.25-0.27, while the US has 0.40. The Slovak statistics, though, may not take into account the Roma population.
